I love my new rice cooker. I agree with other reviews, not necessarily of this particular cooker, that the instructions are confusing. The first time I used it, Zojirushi NS-TGC10 was a huge mess. I put in way too much water. But after I studied the instructions and the cooker, I figured it out. The cooker comes with a measuring cup and the cooking pan is graduated, meaning it has water levels indicated on the inside. If you use one cup of uncooked rice, you fill the water up to the first line, if your use two cups of rice you fill it up to the second line, etc. Basically the ratio is 2 to 1, twice as much water as rice. This is for white rice; the measurements for other kinds of rice are slightly different but the same principle applies.The cooker doesn’t necessarily shorten the amount of time needing for cooking rice, but it does make it easier. You just throw the rice and water in the pot and push the button. Once it’s doen, the cooker keeps the rice warm until you are ready to eat it. It’s great. Admittedly, I have only used it for cooking white rice and I have not used any of the other functions, like the timer, but I am confident that the cooker would perform well in either regard.
